The American Bulldog was traditionally used for working with cattle. He gets along with children and other animals if socialized at an early age. Strong and powerful, the American Bulldog makes an excellent watchdog.

Temperament: Self-assured, alert, outgoing and friendly.
Color(s): White, white w/brindle or red, brindle or red w/white.
Grooming: Requires only a quick brushing weekly.
Coat(s): Short and stiff to the touch.
With Children: Yes, if socialized at an early age.
With Pets: Yes, if socialized at an early age.
Training: He can be very stubborn, so obedience training should start early.
Exercise: If not used as a working dog, he needs brisk daily walks.
Health Issues: Hip dysplasia, Demodex mange and atopy.
Housing: Unsuited for city or apartment life unless well-trained and sufficiently exercised.
Life Span: 11 – 12 years
