The Border Collie has supreme intelligence, herding instinct and demonstrated superiority in obedience and agility trials. They are outgoing and friendly and get along with children and other animals. They need constant stimulation or they may develop behavioral problems. The Border Collie has been used for sheepherding throughout Great Britain and Ireland for over 200 years.
