Breeds |
The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen were developed in the La Vendee district in France as a trailing scent hound, meant to hunt small game over the rough terrain of the area. They are the smaller version of their larger ancestor, the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, which was developed in the sixteenth century. Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen's are still used today to hunt small game such as rabbit, hare and feathered game. They are very hardy, robust, bold, determined and extremely intelligent, as is demanded by the climate in which they were developed to hunt.
