Breed: Miniature Pinscher Other Breeds

This sturdy little dog is not a small version of the Doberman Pinscher as one may think. He is actually thought to have descended from the German Pinscher, possibly cross mixed with a Dachshund and an Italian Greyhound. He is a good ratter and barking watchdog. He also does well as a house dog. He is proud, vigorous and alert.

Height: 10 - 12 in.
Weight: 8 - 10 lbs.
Temperament: Lively, alert.
Color(s): Black, blue, or chocolate.
Grooming: Comb, brush or rub his smooth coat regularly to remove loose hairs. Shampoo only when necessary. Teeth should be check and cleaned regularly.
Coat(s): Hard, smooth, short coat.
With Children: Yes, provided he is not pestered.
With Pets: Yes
Training: Learn very quickly and should be given the opportunity to take puppy classes. Pay special attention to housebreaking as he needs firm training or he may soon run the home.
Exercise: Needs vigorous exercise for a little dog. Give him the opportunity to run and play in the yard or daily walks on a lead.
Health Issues: Patella luxation and eye problems.
Housing: An apartment is adequate as long as some form of exercise is given. Remember he can be very noisy. An owner of a Mini Pin needs to want to take on a challenge as he is one cantankerous little dog.
Life Span: 14 - 15 years
Country of Origin: Germany
Conformation Group: Toy
