Doggie Name: Berry
Breed: Labrador Retriever
Age: 4 Years
Crossed The Bridge: January 25, 2004
My Tribute: I waited a year on a "wait list" to bring home my beautiful Brooklands Strawberry Blonde. She was to be my Brood Bitch and start my own small home kennel of Labradors. She was the light of my life. Smart, sweet, playful - she was the light of our lives. She worshiped the Royal Orb (better known as a tennis ball) and she was the center of our lives. The soccer team mascot, neighborhood playmate and all around sweetest baby girl. She was bred to a beautiful Champion in Nov 2003 and was due in Jan 2004. She had all the right pre-natal care, but nothing could prepare us for what happened. She had a set of "identical twins" (one placenta). Together they formed a ball and when the contractions started they split open her uterus. We rushed her to the emergency clinic in the middle of the night for an emergency c-section. All went well and we had 5 beautiful puppies. But then, a pulmonary embolism (blood clot) hit her heart and she was gone in a flash. It has been six weeks of hand raising the boys, and while our love continues to grow for them by leaps and bounds every day, the pain of losing our precious girl has not subsided one bit. She has been cremated and is waiting with two of my other labs to be buried with me when it is my time to go. When it is my time to go, I will not be afraid., I will rush to the Rainbow Bridge with tears streaming down my face and my arms stretched out to once again hold my baby!
